Green-tide!

Good morning from a beautiful Johannesburg and can you feel that Spring is surely peeping at us from some sunny corner. Below is an extract from an eco-site that will give you a heads-up on what to with the tonnes of beach trash you are bound to find from Muizenburg to Clifton! Love it!

"...For the Save the Beach Hotel, it's not just a building material but also a warning about the current state of Europe's beaches...the Save the Beach effort aims to recover at least one European beach per year from destruction by pollution and other human-caused damage..."

E (eco) TV this morning...

Appeared on Etv this this morning and discussed greening at large. Did not get in to specifics about sustainablility in the work, play or home space (next time), but rather the larger issues relating to the fact that the least developed countries will be affected the worst due to rising sea levels and extreme weather, creating environmental refugees.

In the mean time, plant trees to beautify your neighbourhood while absorbing CO2; make sure to choose services and products from businesses that have an offsetting programme; travel locally and turn your appliances off at the wall. As the consumer, you have the power to effect greener change.

Long cycle to greendom!

Cycle to work at least once a week and you could reduce your CO2 footprint by 20% a year! Talking about cycling, we should think of creating a city bike rental scheme similar to those found in Paris, London and Copenhagen or is South Africa just not ready to leave a bike alone on a street corner which should be used for the greater benefit of travelers and the planet? Imagine, the possibilities, as that ad goes for supporting brand SA!
